This is a fantastic book exploring the freedom and courage of vulnerability. I found tons of helpful illustrations for my own counseling and writing, and loads of beautifully crafted insights. Brown is a great researcher and writer and I am sure this work will make its way into my own writing and thinking moving forward.
2) Four Desires for the Future of Evangelicalism: Kingdom-First Mindset
#3 of my four Desires will take a look at becoming more Kingdom-oriented in our ministries, as opposed to simply thinking about our own local church/ministry and what will make it grow. I firmly believe we need to find more ways to cooperate with, encourage, and celebrate what God is doing in other churches.
3) A Biblical Theology of Judgment and Mercy: the Prophets
The prophets are one massive example of the interrelationship between God’s mercy and judgment as they often rebuke and warn the people of Israel while also holding out the promise of salvation.
4) Recovery Culture Churches: Ephesians 4:11-16
A third passage that inspires my philosophy of Recovery Culture Churches.
