This was a disappointing book. I loved its emphasis on compassion, so much of the church needs to hear this and be challenged to love deeper. The authors, however, are so convinced of the disease model of addiction that their suggestions for how the church can care for addicts essentially comes down to referral.
2) Four Desires for the Future of Evangelicalism: Fighting for Life and Broadening the Fight
Continuing this series, next week I will explore my desire to see the fight for life continue and broaden.
3) A Biblical Theology of Judgment and Mercy: The Cycle of the Judges
Looking at the interrelationship between judgment and mercy in the Bible, I will explore how it is expressed in the cycle of sin, judgment, salvation, and sin among the Judges of the Old Testament.
4) Recovery Culture Churches: 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Next week I will look at another passage of Scripture that continues to inform my philosophy of addiction counseling.
