A Review of Building on the Foundations of Evangelical Theology by Stephen Wellum & Greg Allison
Festschrifts are a mixed bag. Sometimes these collections of essays can be great, advancing some conversations, and truly honoring a great scholar. Other times they become excuses to publish those thoughts that no one else would. They’re not really about the scholar you’re supposed to be honoring, they’re about you. This work, however, edited by Wellum and Allison is really good. It’s a great collection of essays, and for the most part they do seek to honor the great John Feinberg.
Studies in Leviticus: Blessing and Cursing (Leviticus 26)
This chapter in Leviticus delineates the blessings for obedience and cursings for disobedience which flow from God’s covenant relationship with Israel. Next week we will attempt to explore them and their significance for those of us under “grace” and now “law” (Rom. 6:14).
A Biblical Theology of Judgment and Mercy: The Promise Fulfilled in Egypt
As we continue to explore the relationship between judgment and mercy across the canon, we’ll explore how God demonstrates both in Israel’s slavery.
When Legalism Leads to Porn
There is a unique relationship between legalism and porn that I will attempt to explore next week. As we move towards our weekend workshop on counseling those struggling with a pornography addiction this will be a good article to promote that workshop’s usefulness.
