This last weekend we enjoyed the opportunity to do some Biblical Counseling training for a church in Chesterfield, Michigan. This coming weekend we will be doing a workshop for a congregation in Auburn Hills. We have another speaking engagement in New Jersey in May and another possible one in Florida later this year. Last month we taught a marriage retreat at Scioto Hills Christian Camp in Southern Ohio. It’s our joy to be able to lead churches and various groups in this way. We love teaching and training and we have a number of workshops and seminars that we can lead. We provide services for education, self-care, spiritual growth, relationships enhancement, grief & healing, and ministry equipping. If you are looking for speakers for your event consider Sparrow & Heart Soul Care as an option.
Here are some of the trainings, workshops, and seminars that we offer:
- Biblical Counseling Training (3 courses totaling 30 hours of training) – We are already contracted with one local congregation for this training and would love to help other churches develop and expand their discipleship and lay counseling ministries.
- Grieving Church Workshop – this is the other workshop we are contracted for this year. In this seminar we aim to walk congregations through major loss and grief.
- Issue Specific Counseling Workshops – after years of counseling and training we have developed a number of workshops that offer specific spiritual help for various kinds of struggles:
- Grief
- Anger
- Pornography
- Transgender Identity
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Eating Disorders
- Marital Conflict
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Addiction
- Trauma
- Domestic Violence
- Assurance of Salvation
- Attachment Disorders
- Healthy Sexual Intimacy
- Hoarding
- Self-Harm
- Suicidal Thoughts
- Burnout
- Marriage Workshops – we offer two workshops for marriages. The first focuses on general marital strengthening and touches on subjects like communication, common marital problems, and the role of the gospel in marital health. The other focuses more specifically on power dynamics in marital relationships and explores concepts of leadership, submission, mutuality, and more. Or we can do a combination of the two to serve the needs of your church
- Women’s Seminar – Krista has developed a seminar that aims to help women specifically reorder their lives to maximize spiritual growth and change. She has taught it at several women’s events and would love to encourage your women.
- Courses – After years of teaching we also have a whole host of courses that we can teach that might interest different groups; including:
- An Introduction to Christian Biography – A survey course looking at various types of Christian biography and how they can enhance our spiritual life. This course combines Dave’s previous role as a college English professor and his various roles in pastoral care.
- The Doctrine of God – A survey of the Bible’s theology of God.
- Introduction to Theological Method – An introduction to the actual practice and work of developing a theology, and doing theological study
- The Attributes of God – A practical examination of God’s character and how it makes a specific difference in our lives
- Identity in Christ -An exploration of both the theology of Union with Christ and the practical implications of such a doctrine for daily living, loving, and growing.
- A Theology of Human Contact – This unique course looks at what the Bible has to say about the value, importance, and need for human contact. Highly practical but theologically rich, this course will give your congregation a lot to think about and practical ways to apply these concepts to a church culture for greater health and relational connection.
If you don’t see the type of training or discipleship help that you are looking for on that list let’s talk. It might still be something we are capable of doing. We are passionate about education and transformation and would love to help you and your group in whatever way we can.

Can anyone come to the one on Auburn Hills this weekend? If so, please provide information. Thank you Sue Ulbrich
Unfortunately it is a closed event just for that local congregation as they are processing their grief.
