One of my favorite movies of all time is Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. This is just such a fantastic movie and Indiana Jones such a great hero. He was incredibly intelligent about history, but he was also an action hero! What good historian couldn’t love that! So when I came to John 2:12-22 and saw Jesus, the greatest hero ever, cleansingin the temple I had to construct a sermon title that was a play on the title of another Indiana Jones movie: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. That being said, this week’s sermon will not focus on Indiana Jones, but rather on Jesus’ “zeal for the house of God.” What was it that made Jesus so angry when he came to the temple? What does that have to do with us today? I am going to answer these questions this week at Bigelow Church in my sermon Jesus and the Temple of Doom!
