An Update on Life and Work

We’ve said it enough times nows: 2025 was a very hard year. We are glad that the calendar has turned over and we can waive goodbye to it. A new year does not, of course, automatically lead to a new beginning. To see change in your life requires that you put forth effort, set goals, seek help, and, most of all, call upon the Lord. So, we have started 2026 with that in mind.

Amongst our own personal goals for growth, we have sought to establish a vision for growing the ministry. Our big goal for 2026 is to expand our teaching ministry through Sparrow & Heart Soul Care. The counseling ministry grows steadily (though we are accepting new clients now, so be sure to send your friends and loved ones our way). We have seen, however, that teaching can increase our impact and facilitate greater interest in counseling. In light of that we are exploring multiple avenues for leading various types of training, workshops, seminars, and courses.

As of right now our winter/spring is full. We have a contract with one church for 30 hours of teaching this year, and we will be doing some smaller speaking engagements for several local congregations and several out-of-state organizations. We’d welcome prayer for those events and expansion of this arm of our ministry.

In early Spring we have a retreat planned to start work on our next book. We have a number of ideas and are excited to see what the Lord leads us to. A few days of praying, outlining, and discussing projects will hopefully result in a target. We’d welcome your prayers for that.

The other big project we are exploring this year is the development of a Non-Profit to help subsidize the cost of counseling for people. Because Biblical Counselors often cannot accept health insurance the cost of counseling can add up quickly for people. For some, this means that they never seek faith-based help. We want to change that. We are working on the logistics of this endeavor but we have received good counsel and support in the planning stages of it. We look forward to having an update come Spring. We would certainly welcome pray for this endeavor.

Lastly, we are so grateful for how well our latest book has done. Power with Purpose: God’s Design for Power Dynamics in Marriage received a lot of interest right out of the gate. It sold 500 copies within the first five days. It climbed to #180 in “Christian Pastoral Resources” on Amazon for a short while and received praise from Pastor Brad Bigney and Tim Challies. We are excited to see it impact marriages and empower pastors and counselors to help others.

Thank you for all the support that we have received from many family and friends. We covet your prayers as we continue to move forward towards what we believe the Lord is calling us.
