This book is a fantastic balance of discussing what the gospel is and pointing out all the perversions of it.

2) Not The Gospel: Rules

In light of Chandler’s book I thought it worth while to spend some time contemplating what the gospel isn’t this week. Far too many people think the gospel is all about rules, about keeping commandments. It’s not!

3) Not The Gospel: Prosperity

The contemporary setting of evangelicalism finds a plethora of theologies of prosperity. The whole “God has a perfect plan for your life” is not the gospel!

4) Not The Gospel: Love

Social justice is important: it’s not the gospel! Understanding that is important.

5) Themes in the Book of Jonah: The Universal King

The book of Jonah points us to an important Biblical theme, God’s Kingship overall things. As early as Genesis God declared he is the God of all the nations. Jonah gives us a clear picture of it.
