Here’s what you’ll miss next week if you don’t come back to Pastor Dave Online:
1) A review of Loving the Way Jesus Loves by Phil Ryken
Though it is a very thorough exposition of the “love chapter,” 1 Corinthians 13, Ryken’s book is more than just an explanation of the Greek in context. It is an encouragement to love like Christ loves, a reminder that we can’t just do it (which is why we need his love), and a call to action as the reality of love. This has been a great book, and Ryken writes compellingly.
2) The Bigot and the Beauty of Grace: A Biblical Theology of Jonah
As I continue to read and study through the book of Jonah, I am going to spend sometime this week giving a theological overview of the whole book. I will also place it within the larger framework of the whole Bible to show where and how it fits in with the narrative of redemption.
3) How Do You Keep Going?: The Emotional Struggle of Pastoral Ministry
The last three weeks have been particularly difficult for me in my ministry. Lots of emotional energy drained, lots of heartbreak, lots of frustration. I have wrestled much lately with how a pastor can be expected to keep serving and keep working week-after-week. Next week I will share my conclusions.
4) Membership Interview: Ray Noble
I am looking forward to this new series interviewing a member of our church. I enjoy taking time each week visiting with our folks at Revolution. Over the time I have come to appreciate the variety of stories they have all lived, and the particularly the ways the gospel and our church have helped to change their lives. Join us next week for the first in this series.
