I had the great privilege a last weekend to take my wife to see Amos Lee in concert. It was a special treat for us, a gift from two of our absolute dearest friends. I can’t say thank you enough to Kyle and Bethany. If you’re not familiar with Lee I thought I’d give you the scoop. You can read my reflections on the concert over at Christ and Pop Culture, but for now here is why Amos Lee is Awesome:
(1) His vocals are so smooth they can cut through butter. Just listen:
(2) He has played with Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and Elvis Costello…considered by some to be the other holy trinity.
(3) His musical style is diverse, including folk, blues, and soul. He’s not just good at one thing, he is truly a Bo Jackson of music.
(4) He routinely plays for the sick and bed-ridden, injured soldiers, and does other charity work … i.e. he sees himself as a citizen of the world whose responsibilities go beyond his music. Classy, if you ask me!
